(Gatineau, May 19, 2022) The Réseau BIBLIO de l'Outaouais is proud to present, again this year, the museum privilege cards. This project, carried out in association with 14 tourist attractions in the Outaouais region and the national capital, is primarily cultural in nature and aims to promote local, regional and national culture and heritage.

Museum privilege cards are available in each of the 47 member libraries of the Réseau BIBLIO de l'Outaouais. Each card, valid for a minimum of one (1) person, can be borrowed for a period of two (2) weeks. These loans allow museum card holders to discover, or rediscover, free of charge, one of the following sites:

  • Canadian Museums of History

  • National Gallery of Canada

  • Canada Science and Technology Museum

  • Canadian Museum of Nature

  • Canada Aviation and Space Museum

  • Canadian War Museum

  • Canada Agriculture and Food Museum

  • Manoir Papineau National Historic Site

  • Forêt-la-Blanche Ecological Reserve

  • White-tailed Deer Interpretation Center

  • Walleye Interpretation Center

  • Chutes Coulonge Park

  • George Bryson Heritage House

  • Pioneers Museum of Saint-André-Avellin

The museum privilege cards are an initiative of the Réseau BIBLIO de l'Outaouais, which began over eighteen years ago in collaboration with various cultural partners in the Outaouais region and the national capital.

I’m delighted to share with you some good news for our communities. Yesterday, the Government of Quebec launched its interactive map which allows you to know in real time the progress of the work Canada-Quebec High-Speed Operation.

The map allows you to view the progress of high-speed Internet service deployment projects in specific sectors and regions in Quebec. To search through the map, you have to enter the civic address, city, municipality or administrative region.

In addition, for households that will not have access to fibre optics by September 30, 2022, the Government of Quebec announced a high-speed Internet connection via satellite services.

This was all made possible thanks to Canada-Quebec High-Speed Operation. Phases 1 and 2 of this initiative aims to connect 166,200 additional Quebec households to high-speed Internet by September 30, 2022. This operation is made possible thanks to co-funding of a total of $920.3 million by the governments of Canada and Quebec.

With these investments, we’ve already helped to connect over 96% of Quebecers to date and our government is on track to connect every single Quebecer by next year.

I would like to reiterate my commitment to you: Count on us to ensure that every region of Quebec has access to reliable high-speed Internet.
